These photos show a quick test we
did of a black latex VacBed from VacBed.com. For those who are unfamiliar with latex and
vacuum play, a household vacuum cleaner is hooked to a plastic pipe frame which
is inside of two sheets of latex. The pipe frame is made of 1.5 inch plastic
PVC pipe, and small holes have been drilled in all the pipes so that when the
vacuum cleaner is turned on the air is sucked out of from in-between the two
layers of latex, forcing the two layers together. This action is similar to the
way food and other products are ‘vacuum sealed' in your local supermarket. The
latex is sucked down around the person who is in-between the two layers of
latex, which holds the person in a stationary position and unable to move.
Many variations of the ‘VacBed' have
been created including some which have a hood and gas mask built into the top
layer of the latex so the person inside doesn't experience the pressure of the
latex against their face, and they can also see out through the lenses of the gas
mask. There is also a ‘VacCube' in which a cube of made of PVC pipe, covered in
latex, and all the 6 sides of the cube are sucked into the middle trapping the
person inside. Caution - the VacBed featured in these photos can cause bleeding
or damage to the ears of some people because of the differential pressure
between the inside of the VacBed and the inside of the mouth of the person
inside who is breathing through the tube.
The photos below show the most basic
and least expensive VacBed, in which the person in-between the layers of latex
breaths through the plastic tube. The vacuum cleaner needs to be running the
entire time the person is experiencing the VacBed, which is why we used a long
plastic hose allowing the noisy vacuum cleaner to be located in another room of
the house. The long hose can be purchased at your local hardware store, and it
can be connected on each end using duct tape in case the hose is a different
diameter than the VacBed or vacuum cleaner fittings.
The folks at Maxcita.com have a novel
solution to the vacuum cleaner noise problem. They have incorporated a one-way
check valve into the vacuum line so that once the VacBed is sucked down the
vacuum cleaner can be turned off. They have also experimented with thicker
latex sheeting which provides a more intense and helpless experience for the
person captured inside. Other suppliers of VacBeds include SlickCo.com and KinkEngineering.com.
They make some very cool variations. Who knows what new latex vacuum inventions
will come along? Since this VacBed test we have purchased an even longer hose
and used an industrial vacuum cleaner. This combination allows the extremely noisy
vacuum to be put in the basement of the house, and the powerful suction it
provides makes the latex sheeting cling even tighter around the subject. Once
again however, a VacBed which allows the head to be completely outside of the
layers of latex and the negative air suction is highly recommended to protect
the ears. |
